Nigeria Emphasizes Diaspora Role in Security and Growth

The Federal Government of Nigeria has underscored the significance of engaging with its diaspora and forming strategic international partnerships to enhance national security and economic opportunities. This declaration was made by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, at the Dinner Night of the Nigerian Diaspora Economic Conference held in Toronto, Canada.

Enikanolaiye acknowledged that security remains a critical challenge for Nigeria, with the administration of President Bola Tinubu actively working to address these threats. He mentioned a "new era of partnership of strategic autonomy" with key international partners, particularly the United States, following his recent engagements in Washington.

The minister articulated that the goal of these renewed relationships is to yield tangible benefits for Nigerians, focusing on security, prosperity, and welfare. He also highlighted the Tinubu administration's view of the Nigerian diaspora as vital assets for national development, emphasizing their expertise and resources as crucial for advancing Nigeria's development priorities.
