Nigeria Prioritizes Diaspora Engagement for Security and Growth

The federal government of Nigeria has declared that its engagement with the diaspora and strategic international partners is crucial for enhancing national security, expanding economic opportunities, and promoting sustainable development. This statement was made by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, at the Dinner Night of the Nigerian Diaspora Economic Conference in Toronto, Canada.

Enikanolaiye acknowledged that security remains a significant challenge for Nigeria but assured that President Bola Tinubu's administration is committed to addressing these threats. He mentioned a "new era of partnership of strategic autonomy" with key international partners, including the United States, following his recent high-level meetings in Washington.

The minister emphasized that Nigerians abroad are viewed as vital assets for national development, possessing skills and resources that can significantly contribute to Nigeria's priorities. The government aims to harness the expertise and networks of the diaspora to achieve concrete outcomes in security and prosperity.
