Fresh Charges Filed Against Adeniyi Adeyemi for Forgery

The Federal Government has initiated fresh charges against Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is accused of being the Director-General of the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). This decision follows the identification of loopholes in the existing case against him.
On Monday, the government informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that a new charge had been filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently struck out the earlier case after the prosecution, represented by Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, applied to discontinue it.
Oyedepo explained that a review by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) revealed that the documents Adeyemi allegedly forged fell under the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court. The defence counsel, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application.
Adeyemi had been on trial alongside two other defendants, whose whereabouts remain unknown, for conspiracy and forgery. He is now expected to be arraigned at the FCT High Court without delay.
