FG Launches LPG Cylinder Distribution in Bayelsa State

On Tuesday, the Federal Government launched the Liquidized Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder distribution programme in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, distributing free 3kg cylinders to households across the state's eight local government areas. This initiative is part of the Decade of Gas National Grassroots LPG Penetration Programme (NGLPP), which aims to transform five million Nigerian households by providing secure access to clean and affordable cooking gas.

Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), emphasized that the programme is designed to improve energy access, public health, and environmental sustainability while promoting women's empowerment and creating sustainable livelihoods.

He stated that this launch marks a significant step towards cleaner energy and improved living conditions for Nigerians. The programme builds on a successful zonal phase previously implemented across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.

The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on enhancing the quality of life through energy access and economic empowerment.
