Bayelsa Governor Commends LPG Initiative by Tinubu

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, commended President Bola Tinubu for the Federal Government’s Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Penetration Initiative during its launch on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall in Yenagoa. This initiative aims to distribute compressed gas cylinders to vulnerable Nigerians who have relied on firewood for cooking, thereby reducing deforestation and environmental degradation.

Bayelsa is the first state to benefit from this program, which is expected to cover at least 27,000 beneficiaries. Diri emphasized the initiative's significance in addressing the long-standing neglect and environmental issues faced by Niger Delta communities.

He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, and other partners for the program's rollout. Diri urged residents to adopt clean cooking energy and proposed extending the refill arrangement for beneficiaries to a two-year grace period to ensure sustainable implementation.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, described the launch as a historic milestone for Bayelsa.
