FG Rewards D’Tigress Players with $100,000 Each

On September 9, 2026, the Federal Government completed its presidential reward to D’Tigress, with each player receiving the naira equivalent of $100,000 after Nigeria's success at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket. Team officials were rewarded with $50,000 each.

This payment was part of a comprehensive reward package announced by President Bola Tinubu after the team secured their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title and seventh overall. The National Sports Commission confirmed that all eligible players and officials had their accounts credited.

In addition to the cash reward, each player and official was allocated a three-bedroom apartment in Abuja and approved for a national honour in the Order of the Niger, with these elements delivered earlier in the year. The completion of the cash payment marks the fulfillment of the government’s commitment to recognizing outstanding sporting achievements, contrasting with the ongoing wait for a similar financial reward for the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior women’s football team.
