Tinubu Confirms $100,000 Reward for D’Tigress Players

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu confirmed that the D’Tigress, Nigeria's senior female basketball team, and their coaching staff have received their promised rewards. Each player received the naira equivalent of $100,000, while each official received $50,000.

This payment completes a package that includes cash rewards, national honors, and three-bedroom homes in Abuja. President Tinubu stated that this is the first time a federal government has fully redeemed such a scale of presidential sporting rewards within one year.

He emphasized the importance of fulfilling promises made to athletes, noting that the process took time to ensure legal compliance. Additionally, he mentioned that outstanding cash rewards for the Super Falcons are being processed, and that the Super Eagles players have also received their promised houses and national honors.

The President reiterated his commitment to rewarding athletes who bring glory to Nigeria.
