FG and Imo State Sign Agreement for New Medical Centre

The Federal Government and Imo State have finalized an agreement to establish a new Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Okigwe, following discussions regarding the former General Hospital in the area. The signing ceremony took place at the Government House in Owerri, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and the Federal Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Iziak Adekunle Salako.

Governor Uzodimma commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the prompt approval of the new medical centre, describing it as a compassionate leadership decision that addresses long-standing gaps in the state's healthcare infrastructure. He expressed gratitude for the Federal Government's commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Imo State, which previously lacked a federal medical centre.

Dr. Salako acknowledged the progress made in Imo's health sector and emphasized the importance of the new FMC in enhancing access to tertiary healthcare services for residents in Imo and neighboring states.
