Nigerian Government Mandates Drug Tests for Public Service Applicants

The Nigerian Federal Government, through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Segun Imohiosen, has announced the introduction of mandatory pre-employment drug tests for public service applicants.

This decision aims to address the growing concern over drug abuse, especially among the youth, and its negative impact on public health, socio-economic development, workplace efficiency, and national security. The directive includes a wide circular issued to various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to collaborate with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in conducting these compulsory tests.

The move aligns with the government's commitment to combating drug abuse and ensuring a drug-free workforce.
