Nigerian Government Mourns Medical Graduate Killed in Ukraine

The Nigerian government mourned the death of 23-year-old medical graduate Marian Nnani Adaobi, who was reported to have sustained injuries during a Russian aerial attack in Kharkiv, Ukraine. A statement issued on Tuesday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed the government's profound sadness regarding her death.

Marian, a graduate of Kharkiv National Medical University, reportedly succumbed to her injuries. The Nigerian government extended heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues, acknowledging the tragic loss.

The Ministry of State for Foreign Affairs has engaged relevant authorities and Nigeria's diplomatic mission to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and to provide necessary consular assistance to her family. The government reiterated its concern over the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, particularly the loss of civilian lives, and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, urging all parties involved to pursue peaceful resolutions in accordance with international law principles.
