Nigerian Student Graduates with Top Honors in Russia

Dorcas Akanbi, a Nigerian medical student, graduated from Rostov State Medical University in Russia with an outstanding cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.90, placing her among the institution's top graduates. She delivered her valedictory speech fluently in Russian, expressing gratitude for her journey from Nigeria to Russia.

Akanbi's aspiration to become a doctor was inspired by renowned American neurosurgeon Ben Carson, and she began her medical studies at the age of eight. Seven years ago, she left Nigeria with two bags and a dream, facing numerous challenges, including adapting to a new academic environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the difficulties of mastering the Russian language, she persevered and excelled academically. Her achievements have drawn admiration both in Nigeria and abroad.

In addition to her academic success, Akanbi was actively involved in extracurricular activities and served in student associations, showcasing her commitment to a balanced student life.
