Missing Doctor Found Dead in Port Harcourt, Investigation Ongoing

Dr Vanman, a medical doctor who completed his housemanship last year, was reported missing since Saturday night and was found dead on Thursday, August 9, 2026, in Port Harcourt with stab wounds. His colleagues indicated that his family had informed the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Rivers State Branch, about his unreachability before they learned of his death.

The NMA expressed grief over his death and called for a thorough investigation by security agencies to ensure justice. The association's secretary, Dr Diamond Tonye-Obene, stated that the NMA's State Officers Committee was alerted to Dr Vanman's disappearance after he went to work at an unnamed private hospital.

Following this, the NMA leadership, under Dr Prof Ureh Oparaodu, contacted his relatives and later accompanied them to the Mini-Okoro Police Station, where they were informed that his body had been discovered by police personnel at Market Junction along Aba Road. The body was subsequently deposited in a mortuary.

Police authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
