FG Plans Salary Increase for Nigerian Soldiers Soon

The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to increase the salaries of soldiers, with an official announcement anticipated from President Bola Tinubu in the coming weeks. This information was disclosed by the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, during a training and financial empowerment workshop for widows and wives of military personnel at Lungi Barracks in Abuja.

Musa highlighted that the proposed salary review is part of ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to enhance the welfare of Armed Forces members and recognize their sacrifices. He noted that soldiers' monthly pay had previously been raised from ₦49,000 to ₦100,000, and further increases are being pursued.

Musa emphasized the importance of welfare for military effectiveness and stated that support should extend to families of military personnel. The workshop, themed “Renewed Hope for Families of the Armed Forces of Nigeria Through Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development,” was organized by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with SMEDAN to bolster the economic capacity of military families.
