FG Signs Agreement for Smart National Transport Data Bank

The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a significant step towards modernizing the country's transport sector by signing a concession agreement to implement the Smart National Transport Data Bank (NTDB) project. The agreement was signed in Abuja between the Federal Government, represented by the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), and Asia Arab Investment Nigeria Limited (AAI).

During the ceremony, former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and current chairman, Boboy Oyeyemi, described the project as a defining milestone in Nigeria's journey towards intelligent, data-driven technology that will enable transport governance. Oyeyemi stated that the project will serve as the foundation for a new national transport intelligence architecture, integrating real-time data across various modes of transport, including road, rail, aviation, maritime, inland waterways, and pipelines.

The event also featured remarks from Funsho Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport, and Barrister Olusegun Omotola, Director of Legal Services at the ministry, emphasizing the government's commitment to building a modern, intelligent, and secure transport system.
