FG Directs Medical Directors to Enhance Patient Care

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a directive to newly appointed medical directors at federal medical centers, emphasizing the need to prioritize patient care and prevent industrial disputes that could disrupt healthcare services across the country. The directive was communicated in a statement released on Saturday by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, signed by Minister of State for Health, Iziq Salako, during the presentation of appointment letters to six medical directors.

Salako urged the new appointees to stay informed about government policies and to maintain peace within hospitals, highlighting the critical impact on service delivery. He warned against denying patients access to care, stating that such situations would not be tolerated.

The ministry has also established a task force to improve patient safety and feedback mechanisms. Additionally, the government aims to fast-track the recruitment process for medical directors to address human resource challenges in the health sector.

The appointees include Evinli Nzerib, Adamu Atterwharmi, Umar Musami, Omo Ekeneam, and Abubakar Usman.
