FG Warns Against Examination Malpractice in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a stern warning to parents, teachers, school proprietors, principals, invigilators, and students involved in examination malpractice, stating they will face consequences. This warning was articulated by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during a meeting with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) and other education stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday.

Alausa highlighted the urgent need to end the era of dishonest candidates gaining unfair advantages over those who prepare genuinely for examinations. He noted that examination malpractice has become deeply entrenched in the education system, affecting the credibility of certificates issued by Nigerian institutions.

The government's initiative to strengthen examination administration aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to restoring standards and accountability in the education sector. Alausa called for collective responsibility among adults in the education system to foster genuine learning environments.

Additionally, Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, urged private school proprietors to embrace reforms aimed at enhancing examination integrity.
