FG Prioritizes Safe Return of Oyo Abducted Pupils

The Nigerian government is focusing on the safe return of pupils and teachers abducted in Oyo. General Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former head of state, called for national support for security agencies in their fight against terrorism.

He commended the resilience of the Nigerian Armed Forces and urged citizens to unite against terror, warning against the politicization of security issues and the spread of fake news. Security sources revealed that troops are actively monitoring national parks and forest areas in Kwara State, where the victims are believed to be held.

The abduction occurred on May 15, 2026, during an armed attack on the Baptist Nursery Primary School in Yawota. Security operations have successfully restricted terrorist movements, and recent military offensives have neutralized no fewer than 168 high-profile terrorist commanders.

The Department of State Services (DSS) reported that earlier demands from the kidnappers have dropped, and security forces are tightening their operations to prevent further kidnappings.
