Nigerian Army Progresses in Rescue of Abducted Oyo Pupils

The Nigerian Army, under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen.

Waidi Shaibu, is conducting an ongoing rescue operation for 39 pupils and seven teachers abducted in Oyo State. During a media interaction in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, Shaibu disclosed that the operation has made significant progress and expressed confidence that it would lead to the safe rescue of the victims and their reunion with their families.

The abduction occurred on May 15 in the Orir local government area of Oyo State. Shaibu also mentioned that the Nigerian Army remains active in various operations across the country to address evolving security challenges, including significant successes against insurgents in the northeast.

He noted the establishment of a new Nigerian Army depot in Amasiri Edda, Ebonyi State, approved by President Bola Tinubu, which aims to enhance military manpower and capabilities.
