FG Revives 16 E-Libraries, Launches Digital Hub in Kano

The Federal Government of Nigeria has successfully revived 16 abandoned e-library projects and commissioned a new digital hub at the Federal Government College (FGC) in Kano. Dr.

Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, disclosed this initiative on Monday, emphasizing its role in modernizing public schools and promoting technology-driven learning. The newly upgraded digital hub is equipped with solar power, air conditioning, modern lighting, and 80 computer workstations to support teaching, learning, and research.

This project reflects the Tinubu administration's commitment to expanding access to quality digital education. The government inherited a total of 36 abandoned e-library projects across unity colleges, and the completion of these 16 interventions is part of a broader educational reform agenda.

The Minister also mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance digital infrastructure in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and pledged continued investment in technology-enabled learning. During a visit to a bilingual school in Ungogo, which is 90% complete, Alausa directed officials to begin recruiting teachers ahead of its planned opening in September.
