Nigeria Launches Passport Intervention in UK Cities

On August 31, 2026, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced a passport intervention exercise for Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom, to be conducted by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). The exercise will occur in London, Manchester, Aberdeen, and Cardiff, with the London and Manchester events scheduled from September 7 to 19, 2026, at Layali Lounge and Nigerian House, respectively.

The team will then move to Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to 26, 2026, with venues at Hilton Convention Centre and Sophia Gardens. This initiative follows a directive from the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and consultations with the Nigerian High Commission and community representatives.

Eligible Nigerians are encouraged to apply online and bring necessary documents, including completed application forms and payment slips. The NIS emphasized that cash payments would not be accepted, urging cooperation from applicants for a smooth process.

The intervention aims to enhance passport service delivery to Nigerians in the diaspora.
