Kano Hajj Board Sets Deadline for E-Passport Submission

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, led by Director-General Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, has announced a deadline of September 5, 2026, for intending pilgrims who have paid their Hajj fares but have not submitted their e-passports. Those who fail to meet this deadline will have their payments refunded, and their slots will be allocated to standby pilgrims, of which approximately 200 are already prepared with passports and cheques totaling N7.6 million.

Matawalle emphasized the importance of this deadline to comply with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) requirements and to avoid losing unutilized slots. He also warned that any slots not utilized by September 10 would be taken over by NAHCON.

The board has reviewed past challenges, including delays in accommodation and identification card issuance, and has implemented measures to improve the 2026 Hajj operation, focusing on accommodation, feeding, medical services, and overall welfare of pilgrims.
