FG Aims for 1 Million Global Jobs for Nigerians by 2030

The Federal Government of Nigeria has set a target to create one million export-linked jobs by 2030, launching the "Hire from Nigeria" campaign in Abuja. Key officials, including Dr Jumoke Oduwole (Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment), Mohammed Idris (Minister of Information and National Orientation), and Dr Tunji Alausa (Minister of Education), outlined strategies to connect Nigerian professionals with global employers.

Oduwole emphasized that this initiative is a strategic economic effort, leveraging Nigeria's skilled workforce to boost service exports. The government plans to develop a demand-led services export strategy and Nigeria's first national outsourcing policy, expected to launch in November 2026.

Idris noted that the campaign allows Nigerians to earn from international markets without relocating, while Alausa mentioned that over 200,000 Nigerians are currently training across more than 1,200 skills centers. The initiative aims to align education with industry needs, ensuring professionals are ready for global competition.

Joel Ogunsola, founder of Tech4Dev, stated that access to global opportunities is Nigeria's primary challenge.
