Rivers State and FG Sign MoU to Boost Creative Economy

On Monday, the Federal Government and the Rivers State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Government House in Port Harcourt to promote the Renewed Hope Cultural Project, which aims to expand Nigeria's creative economy sector. Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara emphasized his administration's commitment to the Oyorokoto Beach Resort project, which is intended to transform the state into a tourism hub.

Fubara noted that significant investments have been made in the tourism sector over the past three years to create jobs and diversify the local economy. He mentioned the ongoing partnership with Landmark on a new Tourist Beach project, with the first phase expected to be unveiled by December.

The governor also highlighted the importance of infrastructure development in enhancing the hospitality industry, drawing comparisons to successful tourism economies in Europe and the Middle East. He assured that tangible results would be delivered within four months and expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for selecting Rivers State for this initiative.

The MoU was signed by Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa.
