FG Plans New Pay Rise for Military Personnel Soon

The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to announce a new pay rise for military personnel as part of efforts to improve their welfare and boost morale. Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (Rtd) revealed this during a keynote address at a workshop for widows and wives of service personnel in Abuja.

Musa noted that the salary adjustment aims to recognize the sacrifices of Armed Forces members and enhance their motivation. He recalled past salary increases, mentioning that soldiers' pay rose from N49,000 to N100,000 due to his efforts when he was Chief of Defence Staff.

Musa expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as a "listening father," would support further salary increases. Additionally, Musa presented a cheque for N250 million to beneficiaries of a capacity-building program.

Charles Odii, Director-General of SMEDAN, reiterated the government's commitment to supporting military families and highlighted a N200 billion allocation by President Tinubu to support enterprises across Nigeria.
