FG to Review Concession of 17 Silos to Enhance Food Security and Reduce Wastage

Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, announced the Federal Government's plan to review the concession of 17 silos across Nigeria. The move comes in response to the urgent need to revitalize the silo storage facilities to enhance food security and reduce crop wastage.

Currently, the concessioned silos are operated by five private companies, with some failing to utilize the facilities effectively. The review aims to ensure that the silos are optimally utilized to support the government's food security initiatives and reduce annual losses estimated at 10 billion Naira.

The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) emphasized the importance of proper utilization of the silos to meet the country's food security goals.
