Nigeria Launches Digital Standards Portal for Industries

The Federal Government of Nigeria unveiled a digital standards portal to enhance the quality of Made-in-Nigeria products. The initiative, launched by Senator John Owan Enoh on a Friday in Abuja, aims to transform Nigeria's industrial standards and improve access to compliance tools for manufacturers.

The platform was developed jointly with the Nigerian Bureau of Standards and the private technology firm Goringo Consult. It is expected to facilitate easier verification of quality for manufacturers and streamline public procurement processes, making compliance mandatory for bid documents in federal government procurement.

Enoh described the initiative as a landmark reform that aligns with President Bola Tinubu's agenda to improve the business environment in Nigeria. The platform is intended to dismantle barriers faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises in accessing standards and compliance services, thereby enhancing competitiveness and ensuring that public expenditures are directed towards quality goods and services.
