SON Launches Digital Standards Platform for Quality Assurance

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) launched a digital standards platform on Friday in Abuja, designed to enhance product quality and support the Nigeria First Policy initiated by President Bola Tinubu. Dr.

Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okek, the Director General of SON, stated that the platform aims to eliminate barriers that have historically hindered access to standards for businesses and entrepreneurs. It provides a digital gateway to Nigerian industrial standards, allowing users to verify certified products and access resources without the need for physical paperwork.

The platform also offers a 35% discount on compliance costs with international standards, enhancing Nigeria's competitiveness in the global market. Dr.

Adebowale Adedokun from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) emphasized the initiative's goal of promoting quality and transparency in public procurement. The platform will soon be integrated into the BPP's e-marketplace, making it mandatory for bid documents in federal government procurement processes.
