Nigeria Launches 505kW Solar Mini-Grid Project in Eredo

The Federal Government of Nigeria unveiled a 505-kilowatt interconnect solar mini-grid project in Majoda Community, Eredo Local Government Area, on Wednesday. This initiative is part of a broader plan to expand electricity access and stimulate economic activity in the region, with expectations to provide stable electricity to 8,000 residents.

Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe emphasized the government's commitment to deploying decentralized renewable energy solutions to improve livelihoods and create jobs. He commended the Rural Electrification Agency, managed by Abba Aliyu, for driving rural electrification and renewable energy deployment across the country.

Tegbe noted that the project goes beyond mere rural electrification, integrating energy systems that link generation, storage, and end-user delivery. The project is supported by the European Union and the Government of Germany, and it represents the first phase of a long-term plan to enhance reliable electricity access in underserved communities.
