Nigeria Gas Industry Stakeholders Criticize IOCs for Violating Cooking Gas Export Ban

Despite the Federal Government's ban on the export of cooking gas, stakeholders in Nigeria's gas industry accuse International Oil Companies (IOCs) of violating the directive, exacerbating the domestic supply crisis. The ban, announced in February 2024 by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, aimed to boost local consumption and stabilize the market.

However, nearly a year later, compliance remains weak, with IOCs still exporting Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). At the 2025 National LPG Conference in Lagos, industry panelists expressed frustration over the lack of enforcement.

The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM) highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the industry.
