FIFA Begins 2030 World Cup Inspection Tour in Europe

FIFA has launched a two-week inspection tour beginning March 9, 2023, across Spain, Portugal, and Morocco as part of its evaluation process for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This tour is crucial ahead of the official announcement of the host stadiums scheduled for December 2026.

The FIFA delegation will conduct assessments in collaboration with the football federations of the three countries to evaluate stadium infrastructure, logistics, and overall organizational readiness of the candidate host cities. In Spain, the delegation will inspect major stadiums in Barcelona and Madrid, including the ongoing redevelopment of Camp Nou.

The tour will conclude in Morocco, where six candidate cities will be reviewed, including the Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca, which is proposed to host the tournament final, along with stadiums in Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, and Agadir. FIFA will examine stadium safety, media operations, VIP facilities, transport infrastructure, and accommodation capacity, while Morocco is set to implement advanced security measures, including facial recognition systems and drone surveillance.
