Argentina Tops FIFA Rankings; Nigeria at 26th Position

In the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, Argentina maintains its position as the top-ranked team in the world, solidifying its status ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team has recorded impressive victories in recent international fixtures.

Spain and France occupy the second and third positions, respectively, with Spain holding the second spot following a draw and win in recent matches, while France slipped to third after suffering a defeat but rebounded with subsequent victories. England and Portugal complete the top five, with Brazil in sixth place.

Nigeria retains its 26th position globally, reflecting a mixed result from recent matches, including a victory against Zimbabwe and Jamaica, but also a 2-2 draw with Poland and a narrow 2-1 defeat to Portugal in international friendlies. Morocco is noted as the highest-ranked African nation, sitting at seventh place in the world rankings.

The upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, expanding to 48 teams for the first time.
