Fire Destroys Medical Lab at Plateau State College

On Tuesday morning, a fire outbreak occurred at the Plateau State College of Health Technology located in Zawan, Jos South LGA, damaging the medical laboratory section. Provost Atang Ishaku confirmed the incident, noting that the cause of the fire is currently unknown.

The fire was reported around 12 PM, prompting immediate contact with the Federal Fire Service; however, due to vehicle issues, the team arrived late, and the fire had already spread extensively. A spokesman for the Federal Fire Service, Ikib Nanya, could not be reached for comments as his phone was switched off.

The aftermath left students in despair, with Mathew Gyang and Sarah John expressing their frustration and disappointment over the significant loss of valuable equipment crucial for their studies. The incident has raised concerns about safety measures and emergency preparedness at the institution, with calls for a thorough investigation and stronger preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
