Fire Destroys Nigeria Labour Congress Secretariat in Sokoto

A significant fire incident occurred at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) secretariat in Sokoto State, destroying property that had been accumulated over three decades. The fire reportedly started around 3 AM and was attributed to an electrical fault, as stated by Hamisu Hussaini, the NLC council secretary.

Despite efforts by a security guard on duty to contain the fire, it rapidly spread throughout the building, leading to extensive damage. The blaze resulted in the destruction of computers, printers, refrigerators, televisions, office furniture, and vital records that spanned decades, with nothing salvaged from the incident.

Emergency responders arrived approximately an hour after the fire started and managed to bring the flames under control. The incident has left members of the labor council in grief and uncertainty, prompting discussions on recovery and rebuilding efforts following the extensive damage.
