Nigerian Firm PlotWeaver Develops AI for Local Languages

PlotWeaver, a Nigerian artificial intelligence firm, is advocating for the creation of AI tools tailored for Nigerian languages to facilitate business, educational, and cultural communication. Wole Fagbohun, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, stated that these advanced AI tools would enhance communication in English and local languages.

He emphasized that the next generation of AI should interact with customers and perform business tasks without requiring them to alter their speech patterns. Fagbohun introduced PlotWeaver's conversational AI agent, Adunni, which can communicate in English, Nigerian pidgin, and major Nigerian languages, executing tasks via telephone, WhatsApp, and enterprise systems.

Adunni is designed to handle voice conversations, remember context, and switch between languages seamlessly. The technology is being tested in real-world scenarios, accounting for various Nigerian accents and multilingual interactions.

Fagbohun noted that this local-language AI would empower African filmmakers and artists to convey their stories authentically, preserving cultural identities while enhancing business operations.
