Women and PWDs Trained in Sustainable Agriculture

The Gbolekero Women Empowerment and Development Organisation (GWEDO), with support from the Global Greengrants Fund, conducted a training program for 60 women and persons with disabilities in Gelegele Community, Edo State. The initiative aimed to enhance participants' understanding of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.

GWEDO Executive Director Cynthia Bright emphasized the importance of environmentally-friendly farming practices and practical skills to tackle environmental challenges. The training included sessions on Understanding Sustainable Agriculture and Bio-Fertilizers, led by Bright, and discussions on Climate Change and Environmental Protection by Grace Emakpose, who addressed the impacts of climate change on agriculture.

Morrison Arriela facilitated a session on Environmental Protection and Waste Management, highlighting the consequences of poor waste disposal. A participatory group exercise allowed participants to propose solutions like tree planting and proper waste management.

Bright underscored the necessity of empowering communities and ensuring the involvement of women and persons with disabilities in environmental initiatives, thanking the Global Greengrants Fund for their support.
