Mastercard and Jobberman Host Career Fair in Ibadan

The career fair held in Ibadan, Oyo State, was a collaborative effort between Mastercard and Jobberman, aimed at addressing the persistent unemployment challenges in Nigeria. Keynote speaker Olugbenga Omotola urged employers to rethink their hiring priorities, moving beyond academic qualifications to focus on candidates' potential and adaptability.

Olamid Adeyey from Jobberman highlighted the visibility gap that hinders young job seekers from accessing opportunities, stressing that talent exists but access remains a barrier. The event included spot interviews, career counseling, and networking opportunities, designed to yield immediate and long-term outcomes for participants.

The fair also emphasized inclusivity, accommodating women and persons with disabilities, and providing childcare support for nursing mothers. Judith Abi and Mfonobong Eshett discussed the importance of professional networking and the need for candidates to demonstrate initiative and continuous skill development.

The event aimed to complement government efforts to reduce unemployment and enhance workforce productivity in Nigeria.
