Million Classic Initiative Enhances Civic Education in Nigeria

The "Million Classic Initiative" was launched by Academi Press and Ekenua Co to promote civic education among Nigerian secondary school students. The program aims to provide students with access to significant literary works, beginning with the distribution of 1,500 copies of George Orwell's "Animal Farm" across three senior secondary schools in Ilupeju, Lagos.

Mr. Oluwakemi Ogunubi, the Managing Director of Academi Press, emphasized the importance of introducing classic literature to young readers, stating that it would help them develop critical thinking and moral reasoning skills.

Osamed Okhomina, Managing Director of Ekenua Co, expressed optimism about the initiative's potential to engage students and foster a culture of reading. The program is supported by the Lagos State Tutor General's Office, with Mr.

Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos Education District VI, committed to partnering with schools to enhance educational support and access to great literature.
