GSS Damaturu Faces GSS Goneri in Sam Okwaraji Semis

GSS Damaturu is set to compete against GSS Goneri in the first semi-final of the maiden Sam Okwaraji 16 Soccer Tournament, taking place in Yobe State. The tournament has reached its decisive stage, with the semi-final match scheduled for Sunday, while the grand final is set for Monday.

Professor Abba Idri, the Yobe State Commissioner for Education, is expected to grace the occasion as the special guest of honor. The tournament is organized by the Sam Okwaraji Foundation in collaboration with the Nigerian School Sport Federation and the Nigerian Football Federation, with sponsorship from First Bank PLC.

Hassan Dauda, the sports coordinator for the Yobe State Ministry of Education, praised the quality of football displayed throughout the competition, describing the standards as outstanding. Governor Mai Mala Buni has shown unwavering support for the development of youth football in Yobe State.

The eventual champion will earn the right to represent Yobe State in the North East region qualifiers for the national championship scheduled to be held in Lagos later this year.
