First Lady's ₦50m Green Challenge Closes Without Entries

The ₦50 million community green challenge, announced by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, closed without receiving significant entries as of the statement issued on Tuesday. The challenge, part of the Renew Hope Initiative, was designed to encourage the transformation of degraded community spaces such as dumpsites and landfills into green parks and eco-friendly areas.

Despite the lack of entries, Tinubu commended the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, for remodeling the Abuja city gate, which serves as a notable example of environmental transformation. She urged state governments to replicate such initiatives and invest in cleaner, greener communities, ensuring proper waste disposal and maintaining drainage channels to prevent flooding.

The household category of the green Nigeria challenge remains open for entries until December 20, 2026, encouraging participation from households across the states, with a total prize pool of ₦100 million for state-wide tree planting efforts.
