Flooding Claims Lives of Two Brothers in Katsina

In Katsina, two brothers, Muhammad Salisu, aged 12, and Abdurrahman Salisu, aged 7, tragically drowned in floodwaters while returning home from an Islamiyya school. The incident occurred during heavy rainfall that transformed roads into streams, leading to the children being swept away before help could arrive.

After a search, their bodies were recovered from different locations. Their father, Malam Salisu Arabi, expressed profound grief, stating that losing both sons in one day was unbearable.

Their mother echoed his sentiments, urging the government to address flooding issues to prevent similar tragedies. Residents attributed the incident to years of poor drainage and erosion, highlighting that Janbago has faced recurring floods due to inadequate drainage systems.

Malam Tajuddeen, Chairman of the Janbago Community Development Association, noted that flooding has persisted for over a decade, causing property loss and endangering lives. The community has repeatedly appealed to government authorities for proper drainage solutions, emphasizing the urgent need for action to prevent future incidents.
