Two Young Men Swept Away by River in Kaduna Community

In Kabala West, Kaduna, two young men were tragically swept away by a swollen river after heavy rainfall made the water level rise rapidly. The incident occurred when residents attempted to cross the river, which had previously been passable.

Community leader Alhaji Ibrahim Fage confirmed the incident, describing it as a painful tragedy for the community. He urged residents, particularly the youth, to refrain from crossing the river during the rainy season due to the sudden rise in water levels caused by heavy rainfall.

The search and rescue operations are being conducted by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), and the Kaduna State Fire Service. Hajia Halima Daudu Sulaiman, an operations officer with NEMA, reported that the rescue team had been searching for three hours since operations began at 11:00 AM on Sunday, but the victims had not yet been found.
