Search Intensifies for Two Feared Drowned in Kaduna

Two persons, Musa Bawa, a 27-year-old 200-level student at the College of Nursing Tudun Wada, and Abubakar Ibrahim Muhammad Likoro, a 25-year-old employee of Olam Flour Mill, are feared drowned after being swept away by floodwaters in the Kaduna River. This incident occurred on Saturday evening following heavy rainfall.

Hajiya Halima Suleiman, the Head of Operations at NEMA in Kaduna, confirmed that the agency activated its emergency response team upon receiving a distress call on Sunday morning. The search and rescue operations involve personnel from NEMA, KADSEMA, and the Kaduna State Fire Service, along with local divers.

Despite ongoing efforts, the victims have not yet been located. Suleiman visited the families of the missing individuals to offer condolences and encourage them to remain hopeful.

She also urged residents to exercise caution during the rainy season and avoid crossing flooded areas. The search operations will continue until the victims are found.
