Heavy Rain Causes Floods, Landslides Killing 70 in India, Nepal

Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have led to the deaths of at least 56 individuals in India and 14 in Nepal. The highest number of fatalities occurred in Uttar Pradesh, India, where heavy rainfall has affected numerous districts.

Several rivers in the region have risen above danger levels, prompting concerns from authorities. In Nepal, landslides in Baglung district have contributed to the death toll, with eleven additional individuals reported missing.

Authorities in both countries have issued warnings about the possibility of further flash floods as water levels continue to rise. The extreme weather conditions have also caused significant damage to roads, power infrastructure, and communication systems.
