Food Security: FACAN Moves To Reposition Commodity Associations In Benue

The Benue chapter of the Federation of Agricultural Commodity Associations of Nigeria (FACAN) is taking steps to reposition and strengthen commodity associations in the state to enhance food security. The state coordinator, Vitalis Tarnongu, highlighted the need to reform and reorganize the associations to adopt best agronomic practices and boost food production.

A committee has been formed to review and improve the performance and coordination of the associations. Tarnongu emphasized the urgency to revive the comatose state of the commodity associations and address the leadership anomalies.

He also noted that most commodity associations in the state have not benefited from modern agronomic practices, resulting in low yields. The initiative aims to enhance economic planning and growth in the state.
