Shittu Dismisses Speculations on Adelabu as APC Candidate

Adebayo Shittu, a former minister, has dismissed rumors about Adelabu being the anointed candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Oyo State gubernatorial election. His comments come amid reports that Adelabu may resign from his ministerial position to pursue the governorship under the APC platform.

Shittu noted that the decision regarding the party's candidate selection process remains uncertain, whether it will be through consensus or indirect primaries. He highlighted that there are no indications from President Bola Tinubu's body language suggesting an endorsement of any aspirant for the contest.

Shittu, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed confidence that the APC would reclaim Oyo State once the tenure of the incumbent governor, Seyi Makinde, concludes. He also mentioned that the contest for the APC ticket is highly competitive, with several aspirants preparing to enter the race.
