Babachir Lawal Joins NDC, Backs Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, announced his defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on September 22, after resigning from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) due to alleged manipulation in the party's presidential primary. Lawal made this announcement in Abuja following a meeting with NDC National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, who welcomed him into the party.

Lawal expressed his commitment to support the NDC's presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso for the 2027 elections, emphasizing the need for a political platform that can address Nigeria's pressing security, economic, and social issues. He urged patriotic Nigerians to rally behind the NDC to achieve this goal.

Senator Dickson praised Lawal's political mobilization skills and indicated that he would play a leadership role in the NDC's campaign activities, particularly in the North Eastern region of Nigeria.
