CAF and FIFA Team Visits Abuja Amid Nigeria Football Crisis

A four-man team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA arrived in Abuja over the weekend to engage with the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Interim heads of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Sources from THISDAY confirmed the officials' arrival but did not disclose their names.

This visit is linked to the recent crisis that resulted in Ibrahim Gusau and his board members vacating their positions on the NFF board following pressure from stakeholders. The ongoing failures of Nigeria's national teams have contributed to the circumstances surrounding Gusau's exit.

In response to this situation, a Normalisation Committee is anticipated to be established to oversee the reform of the governing statutes, paving the way for new elections for NFF officers.
