Abuja Police Arrest Four in Vehicle Theft Syndicate

On July 7, 2026, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command arrested four suspects involved in a vehicle theft syndicate in Abuja. The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Ismail, Ahm Omar, Rizku Asehu, and Omar Abubakar, allegedly posed as passengers on e-hailing platforms to rob drivers of their vehicles.

The police recovered two stolen vehicles: a grey Honda Civic and an ash-colored Toyota RAV4. Following investigations, Oumar Odun, an alleged member of a kidnapping gang responsible for the July 8 abduction of a logistics supplier in the Mpape area, was arrested on July 10 in Gedabri Village, Nasarawa State.

The gang was found to rely on illicit drug supply rather than weapons for their operations. During the investigation, police recovered an AK-47 rifle, various packs of tramadol, cocaine, cannabis, and cash.

The suspects are currently in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations.
