Police Arrest Four in Abuja Vehicle Theft Syndicate

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command arrested four suspects linked to a vehicle theft syndicate in Abuja on July 7, 2026. The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Ismail, Ahm Omar, Rizku Asehu, and Omar Abubakar, allegedly specialized in posing as passengers on ride-hailing platforms to rob drivers of their vehicles and valuables.

The police recovered two stolen vehicles during the operation, including an ash-colored Toyota RAV4 (registration number YAB 240 DL) and a grey Honda Civic (registration number ABC 72 JP). The arrests were part of a broader crackdown on violent crime in the Federal Capital Territory, with Police Commissioner Ahm Sanusi urging residents to provide timely information to enhance security efforts.

Additionally, on July 10, 2026, the police apprehended Oumar Odunda, a logistics supplier for a kidnapping gang, revealing connections to illicit drug supply that supported criminal activities in the region.
