Ex-Governorship Aspirant Zariyi Madaki Resigns from NDC

Zariyi Yusuf Madaki, a former governorship aspirant for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kaduna State, announced his immediate resignation from the party on Wednesday. In his resignation letter, dated August 26, 2026, and addressed to the NDC's National Chairman through Kaduna State Chairman Evangelist Mordecai Ibrahim, Madaki expressed his belief that the NDC could no longer provide the necessary platform for his political aspirations focused on justice and good governance.

He highlighted his previous support for Senator Danjuma La’ah and noted that his experiences within the party and the controversies surrounding its governorship primary led him to reassess his membership. Madaki emphasized that his resignation was based on his commitment to the principles he represents, rather than political expediency.

He did not disclose his next political move but mentioned he is consulting widely before making a decision. Earlier in August 2026, Senator Rufai Sani Hanga also resigned from the NDC following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
